Lac Sam is situated along the intersection of the municipal boundary line between the Municipalities of Denholm and Lac-Sainte-Marie, which are two of 18 Municipalities that comprise the greater Regional County Municipality (MRC) of La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. Lac Sam is named after a local man named Samuel Warwick who logged the area in the 1800’s. The horseshoe-shaped kettle lake was situated in native Algonquin territory and surrounded by white pine trees before logging. Now, Lac Sam provides beautiful vistas of mixed and boreal forests featuring tall, graceful hemlock trees.

- Lloyd Jarvis says that his depth finder produced several readings of 245ft. in the center of the east arm.
